Dear SCCOOS participants,
Apologies if you've already seen this RFP. If not, up to $270K/year
is available to investigators from UC campuses and National Labs for
research relevant to the "problems of toxic substances in
California." Coastal/Marine toxicology is one of the areas of funded
research.

MULTI-YEAR LEAD CAMPUS FUNDING FOR RESEARCH ON TOXICS:
The UC Toxic Substances Research & Teaching Program (TSR&TP)
announces the availability of up to $270,000 of funding per
year for a maximum of 6 years (with a non-competitive review
at 3 years) for a new Lead Campus in any area relevant to the
problems of toxic substances in California.

NEW TSR&TP LEAD CAMPUS RFP

ELIGIBILITY: Groups of investigators from any UC campuses (or
consortia of campuses and National Laboratories) are invited to
submit proposals.
RESEARCH EMPHASIS:
Any area relevant to the problems of toxic substances in California.

Current TSR&TP lead campus programs are in the areas of
Ecotoxicology, Coastal/Marine Toxicology, and Mechanisms of
Toxicity. Descriptions
of these programs are also on our website.
DESCRIPTION: A Lead Campus program is an interdisciplinary research
and training program focused on important problem areas of toxic
substances in the environment. A successful Lead Campus program will
foster interdisciplinary faculty collaborations between departments
and campuses, be an incubator for innovative research, provide education
and training for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in relevant
fields, and result in the establishment of sustainable programs.
PROJECT PERIOD: A maximum of 6 years with a non-competitive review
at 3 years by the TSR&TP Executive Committee. Funding will begin
on 7/1/2005.
BUDGET: Annual budget of up to $270,000 may be requested
DEADLINE: Proposals must be received by 5:00pm, 2/28/05 to be
considered in this competition.
